    Three steps, with a clear privacy boundary.

      Install the Mac app

      Download the DMG, move Chirp Go into Applications, and grant microphone and Accessibility access. The first hour is free and needs no account.

    2. 02

      Speak where you write

      Press the global hotkey in a supported text field. Chirp Go turns your speech into text on the Mac, then places the result at your cursor.

    3. 03

      Keep or polish the result

      Use the local transcript as it is, or explicitly turn on AI Polish to tidy the finished text. Polish sends transcript text for cleanup; it never sends your audio.

    Why local matters

    The network is optional for your words.

    Local transcription means the audio can stay on your computer. Internet access is still used for licensing, updates, support, and the optional AI Polish request.

    Dictate offline

    Once the local model is ready, speech recognition does not need to upload your recording. Draft meeting notes, messages, or documents when Wi-Fi is unreliable.

    Choose when text leaves

    AI Polish is off until you enable it. When used, only the resulting transcript text goes to the cleanup service. Audio, surrounding documents, and screen content do not.

    Use your voice in the app you already have open.

    Chirp Go is useful for rough notes, replies, outlines, and longer first drafts. The global hotkey starts dictation without moving your work into a separate web editor. You can choose live transcription as you speak or a batch recording that pastes when you finish.

    Before you install

    The Mac build needs macOS 14 or newer and runs best on Apple Silicon. Grant microphone access for speech and Accessibility access for the hotkey and pasting. The free hour does not require an account; a licence is needed after the trial.
